Description

We have put this mixed case together showcasing some fabulous red wines that are all under 13% in alcohol. There is definitely a trend across the globe for reds becoming higher in alcohol which isn't suitable for everyone. This selection shows just how fantastic the lower ABV wines can be.

This case contains one bottle of each of the wines listed below.

A vibrant, fragrant Valpolicella with intensity yet delicacy from the low yields of the Morandina vineyards. Bright red berry aromas with notes of wild thyme lead to a fresh, sappy wine with layers of raspberry leaf, liquorice and cherry. A sappy, juicy, fresh yet silky wine with taut balancing acidity - that, for such a light wine, has great length of flavour.

A well structured and very drinkable red, which denotes freshness and flavour, with rich but soft tannins. A few smoky notes form the corollary to this splendid interpretation of the volcano's wine.

The Zweigelt vom Loess should be a fruity, light red wine, but overall it is more powerful and dense than the selection. The grapes of the "vom Löss" are divided in summer, so that there is a strong reduction in yield. As a result, the grape material is much more mature, but the wine never becomes fat, only more concentrated.

An uncomplicated and yet very complex Lemberger for this league, whose finesse makes you want a second glass. At the start, red and black berries dominate the nose, followed by impressions of black pepper and clove. This wine appears very juicy on the palate and has an acidity that encourages drinking. The fine-grained tannin leaves a lovely mouthfeel.

Juicy and crunchy with lovely ripe red bush fruit, intense raspberry and hints of spice and white pepper. Crisp and fresh on the palate with notes of cola, liquorice and sweet spice.

A Pinotage quite unlike all others, it is fruit forward and clear-cut, with red plummy notes, ripe brambly aromas and even a hint of wild strawberry. Produced in the gentlest way possible from an old 1973 planted vineyard.
