Mark Wrigglesworth – Director & Owner
My life in the wine trade started when I bought The Good Wine Shop in St Margarets in 2004. Before that wine was a passion and a hobby rather than my living. I had stints with start up businesses before that, in property group specialising in the mobile telecoms sector, as well as establishing and running an American Healthcare company’s UK offices. Having cut my teeth helping set up other people’s businesses I now wanted to venture out on my own and in an area I had a passion for. It was a steep learning curve in the early days but I guess nearly 15 years on we must be getting something right and hopefully we will continue to thrive and grow. I am curious about wine in all its colours, grapes and styles but never like drinking the same thing again and again. Pinot Noir is a passion but so is white burgundy and Riesling too.
Ben Craighead – Operations Manager
With over a decade of experience working in hospitality in the UK and Canada, before I came to The Good Wine Shop I worked for an award winning, boutique hotel chain. I’m passionate about wine and spirits. As a trained sommelier I also love suggesting great food & wine combinations! I recently completed my WSET Diploma and was honoured to receive the Liberty Wines Award for outstanding results in the Global Business module. I’m particularly fond of wines from Oregon, Northern Italy and Jerez. Most often though you’ll find me with a great single malt whisky!
Bastian Fischer – Commercial & Business Development Manager
Originally from the outskirts of Berlin I have spend the past 17 years working in hospitality gaining experience in some of the most beautiful parts of Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. My interest in wine started during a summer season in Trentino Alto Adige where I worked closely with the hotel Sommelier and got to taste some of the most exceptional wines in the local area, providing me with a real sense of place. After Italy I moved to the UK where over the past decade I got to work with some of the best Sommeliers and Hospitality professionals in the world turning the initial interest of wine into a real passion.I am a wine maverick and love to try new things, challenging my perception of the status quo in the pursuit of flavour and balance. I don't have a favourite wine per se but the wines from the Loire and Rhone Valley tend to be the ones taking up most space in my own cellar. Apart from wine i am somewhat of a part-time cigar aficionado and passionate about all things coffee and rum, though not together.
Jenny Meutelet – Marketing Manager
Originally from Burgundy, I first joined the wine industry four years ago during my Master’s Degree in Bordeaux when interning in a Pessac-Léognan estate. I then moved to London three years ago, working in Wine PR & Communications – both for one of the UK’s Top Wine PR agency and in-house for an online wine merchant. I also obtained both my WSET Level 2 & 3 during this time and finally decided to work in a wine shop to develop that knowledge more – both in marketing and in store. What I love about wine is that there’s always something to learn, discover or taste but if I had to choose, my favourite wine regions/countries would be Austria and Alsace and I'm also a huge fan of Jura and South African wines.
