Ben Humberstone - Store Manager, Chiswick
Having found wine through an education and career in Hospitality, I was fortunate enough to spend two years as a Sommelier with the Savoy Hotel. Tasting through some of the fine and iconic wines of the world certainly confirmed my desire for a career in the dynamic wine trade!
I have been working towards my WSET diploma for the past two years, with results pending for my final examinations sat in May *fingers crossed*! For me, travelling to a wine region really brings everything to life. With favourite trips including Alsace, Tuscany and Constantia, nothing beats tasting a wine at source!
While here in London I love making the most of the incredible restaurants on offer, and truly believe wine is always better when enjoyed at a celebration, with great company and delicious food!
Giulio Bonola – Assistant Manager, Chiswick
During my studies at University of Gastronomic Sciences in Alba, I realized that wine should become part of my professional life. I had the opportunity to work for 2 issues of Slow Food Wine Guide as editor and in retail as Wine Department Manager for the Italian wine shop chain Signorvino.
After an experience as Events & Tasting for a winery in Piedmont, I decided to move to London to join my wife and explore the international wine world. In Italy, I have been able to experience first-hand the great classical regions (and wines!), and now I am excited to explore more of the UK, France and South Africa – both the places and the wines!
When not working, I enjoy picnics in London's wonderful parks during the hot season and art museums during the winter.
BETH REYNIERS - Wine Advisor, Chiswick
Whilst studying for my undergraduate degree at St Andrews, I was introduced to the Quaich Society and discovered my passion for whisky. This led to me working for three years at a local independent bottle shop there, before moving to London. After taking a year to study for my Master’s degree, I am now back working in trade part time whilst I pursue a PhD at Imperial College London, looking at how climate change is impacting viticulture. Naturally, being surrounded by wine helps the creative research process! Aside from whisky, I am huge fan of English sparkling wines, which are a part of my research, and also like anything big and fun in style.
When I’m not working, researching or drinking wine, I enjoy baking and cooking (admittedly usually with a glass in hand!), as well as watching sports and escaping to the countryside.
