Description

Even winemaker, Nicola Ferrari, who is not one to blow his own trumpet, says the Ripasso 2016 is his best yet. This is truly beautiful Italian wine - elegant, perfumed, lovely strawberry, cherry fruit that floats in the mouth with savoury earthy notes and a hint of that magical aroma of fine Amarone.

Pressing of the grapes and maceration for 15 days. Second fermentation with Amarone skins for almost 20 days. Ageing in tonneaux for almost 24 months.

Nicola Ferrari is the winemaker at the most prestigious Valpolicella producer that there is, and it is not this one. He was 26 years old when he started working at Giuseppe Quintarelli's winery, and later, with his wife Laura, took over Monte Santoccio. The Monte Santoccio winery extends over 3 hectares of one of the most beautiful hills of Valpolicella Classica: Monte Santoccio in Fumane. This is precisely where the Ferrari family originates from. Its history gives an account of work, love for their own land, pragmatism and passion all in the pursuit of a single objective: quality.

A juicy Valpolicella

Montesantoccio is a fantastic producer to follow. This Valpolicella Ripasao has plump fruit, cherry, plum and a hint of tobacco leaf, especially if left to breath a little. It's a succulent, straightforward, smooth-tannin red with a hint of Its bigger brother ( Amarone).
