Description

The K Vintners, Cattle King, Syrah Yakima Valley 2015 is a monumental wine from the state of Washington. It liberally displays dark fruit, earthy overtones, crushed rocks and stone, black olive and leather. Typical Syrah. Very long finish.

The fruit for this wine comes for the full one hundred percent from the Upland vineyard, located in the Snipes Mountain AVA in the heart of the Yakima Valley. With slopes facing in all four cardinal directions and an elevation that ranges from 750 to 1300 feet, Upland is some of the oldest and most diverse soils in the state - ancient, rocky soils mostly untouched by the Missoula Floods. All grapes are hand-picked, fermented with naturally occurring yeasts and basket pressed.

K is a Rhone-centric winery that was started by making single-vineyard Syrahs back in 1999. K Vintners is about small lots of single-vineyard Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Tempranillo, Sangiovese and field blends of those grapes, all of which are hand-picked, fermented with naturally occurring yeasts and basket pressed.
