The wine has the classic Mosel floral notes with a touch of earthy honey. Off-dry on the palate with lovely green apple, rhubarb and a slate driven minerality.
Alfer Holle refers the steep slopes worked and anyone who fell ended up at the bottom of hell !

For this wine the grapes are hand harvested, and then go through a spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts. The wine is finished with minimal S02 and no other additions.
Produced from the second oldest Riesling vineyard in Mosel, Weingut Stein can date back to the 16th century. Dr Ulrich Stein's mission was to preserve and protect the heritage of these estates. Even when other producers in the 1970s were pulling up their vines to plant on American rootstock, he stuck to his guns and left the land as it was. Fast forward to today and the winery still has some undrafted vines!
