Description

A unique selection of unicorn wines from lesser-known regions and grape varieties. If you're a bit of a wine geek like us or interested in trying new things off the beaten track, this is the perfect case for you.

All the wines have a minimal intervention approach – if not organic, biodynamic or natural winemaking, and represent true terroir expressions.

This mixed case is updated on a regular basis - keep an eye out if you enjoyed the selection!

This case contains one bottle of each of the wines listed below.

  • The Supernatural Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand 2018- Low Sulphites, Organic

A lovely Pale-golden colour, this wine has aromas of ripe peach, vanilla custard, orange blossom and honeysuckle The palate is rich full of ripe, exotic fruits like guava, pink grapefruit, yellow grapefruit pith. There is also a very refreshing note hint of mint. Unlike any other Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc we have had.

  • Bodega Cota 45, Miraflores UBE, Spain 2021- Organic, Vegan

Very small production from a parcel of old Palomino vines on Albariza soil with a high percentage of marine fossils. Aged in old Manzanilla barrels, the focus is very much on terroir rather than biological or oxidative ageing. The result is a sherry-like wine, aged under flor but not fortified, it is fresh and easy to drink with intense floral aromas, citrus, ripe apple and delicate oxidative notes.

  • L'Entremetteuse, Four Skins Colchagua, Chile 2021Low Sulphites, Skin Contact

A blend of 35% Viognier, 33% Roussanne, 27% Marsanne, 5%Semillon. The grapes are destemmed and put in flextank eggs without the addition of sulphites. In one egg there is a co-fermentation of Marsanne/Roussanne/Viognier and the Sémillon is fermented separately in it's own egg. The final result is a mixture of fruit, acidity and tannins that may surprise at first but gives a wine of great complexity. Great persistence on the palate.

  • Delinquente, Weeping Juan Pet-Nat, Australia 2021 – Organic, Vegan

Organic viticulture. Wild yeast fermentation in stainless steel, bottled under crown seal to finish ferment in the Petillant Naturel, lightly sparkling style.

Delicate sweet blueberry with hints of lime and sea salt. Almost raspberry candy-like but super dry, with great acidity and fine bubbles.

  • Domaine Les Hautes Noelles, Zoi Rouge, France 2020 – Organic, Low Sulphites

Merlot, Grolleau Noir and Cabernet Franc from stony sandy-clay loam over micaschist, 10-20 year old vines. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts. 15-18 months aging in an underground tank. Not filtered, not fined. 6,000 bottles made

Intense nose of red berry fruits and a light red iron minerality.  On the palate there is great structure, volume and minerality that talks volumes of the saline terroir. Soft tannic notes round out this lovely red.

  • Diwald, Zweigelt Luft & Liebe 2020 – Organic

After 2 – 3 weeks of skin contact, this lively and assertive wine ages in ancient acacia barrels for 18 months. It is bottled unfiltered, with only a minimal sulphur addition. After benefiting from much love and care in the vineyard and plenty of air during the ageing period, this wine presents beautiful red berry fruitiness, refreshing acidity and enormous drinking pleasure – with class!
