A fragrant wine that shouts out Gruner Veltliner with the green, grassy tones abundant on the nose. A wonderfully accessible bead and a palate brimming with fresh fruit and green peppers. Made in the traditional method, which means that beautiful soft yeast tones linger on the long finish.
The 2023 Salt River combines fruit from a 34 year old bushvine vineyard in Stellenbosch. Named for the trendy area of Cape Town that Savage Wines calls home, it's bursting with white pepper sprinkled gooseberries, elderflower, tangy starfruit, white currants, passionfruit and pomelo and its pith. Straight as an arrow, with icy cold Atlantic sea spray freshness.
This blend of Albarino and Treixadura shows a great aromatic intensity and complexity with floral aromas standing out. Packed with white fruit and citrus and some lychee, it has a crisp acidity and a mineral backbone.
Very pale with enticing aromas of grapefruit, lychee and mango. A fresh and structured palate, each sip ending with a long, ample refreshing finish. Perfect on its own or with salads and roasted vegetables.
The Master of None is a red wine, partly made of white grape varieties giving the resulting lots of drinkability, but also complexity. Besides Grenache, Cinsault, Pinot Noir, and Syrah, the wine is made of Fernao Pires, Chenin Blanc, Palomino and Riesling. Harmonious, fragrant, smooth, with soft, integrated tannins and lots of concentration, this is mouth-watering treat like no other.
Gosh, this has been hanging around a bit! Pale ruby. Nose is a little evolved but it’s a bargain!! Round fruit and not too sweet or heavy and still with some freshness. Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com (16.5)
