About Giulio - Chiswick Store Assistant Manager

"During my studies at University of Gastronomic Sciences in Alba, I realised that wine should become part of my professional life. After working for a Wine Guide, a Wine Chain and a winery in Piedmont, I moved to London to join my wife and explore the international wine world. I have been able to experience first-hand the great classical Italian regions, and now I am excited to explore more of the UK, France and South Africa! When not working, I enjoy picnics in London's wonderful parks during the hot season and art museums during the winter."

  • Henri Gouges, Bourgogne Pinot Blanc 2017, France

“A great story: in a prestigious location like the Cote de Nuits, some Pinot Noir vines started to produce white grapes. Due to the quality of the fruits, vines have been replanted so the producer now has 0.7 hectare of Pinot Blanc. White melon, dried herbs and Mirabelle plum on the nose, great minerality on the palate with lemony aftertaste.”

  • Rola, White Reserva Douro 2018, Portugal

A 40 year-old single vineyard field blend made of indigenous grape varieties from the Douro Valley: Rabigato, Viosinho, Gouveio, and Folgazão. Outstanding, full of tension and freshness. Six-month aging in used French oak gives potential of cellaring. Flavours of cedarwood and blossoms with a flinty palate and a long fresh salinity.”

  • Davide Carlone, Boca 2013, Italy

A gem from Alto Piemonte, 75% Nebbiolo and 15% Vespolina planted on volcanic soil. The cool winds from the Alps give inviting aromatic profile with violets, black tea and white pepper, firm tannic structure and balsamic notes on the background.

  • Mas Lou, Tio Faugeres 2016, France

“Adele Arnaud and Olivier Gil are young winemakers in the Faugeres appellation in the Languedoc. “Tio” is a blend of 90% Syrah with a dash of Carignan and Grenache Noir and is very expressive with plum, black pepper and toasty notes. Broad palate with ripe tannins and intense minty aftertaste.”

  • Stoneweaver, Pinot Noir 2020, New Zealand – Organic

Elegant Pinot Noir from Marlborough. Great winemaking with natural yeasts fermentation and organic certification. Fruits grown on glacial outwash and rocky soil. Complex and layered nose of wild strawberries with earthy and gamey notes. Textural palate and crisp finish.

  • David and Nadia, Grenache Swartland 2020, South Africa – Organic, Biodynamic

Fruits mainly come from a single vineyard in Paardberg with 60% whole bunch fermentation. Very fresh, it is floral and spicy with delicious and prominent rose petal.
