Greece

Greece is one of the oldest wine producing regions, with evidence of wine production dating back to 6,500 years. However, it is only in recent years that Greek wine has regained the attention of the modern audience. Wine is produced all across the country, some of their more intriguing wines are from the island's and their mountainous sites.

The most well known grape varieties are Assyrtiko, Malagousia and Xinomavro. Assyrtiko is often compared in style to a Chablis, Malagousia has a balance between a Viogner and Chardonnay. Xinomavro shares the same savory texture as a Barolo, but with a much bolder fruit profile. This makes it an excellent example for ageing.
