An organic Cabernet Sauvignon blend from high-altitude sites in Paardeberg, Swartland. Winemaker Hanneke Krüger blends a portion of Cinsault to the wine bringing a subtle shift in character from the dark ripe flavours of Cabernet Sauvignon. The result is a wine with real depth and energy.

Cassis and blackberry from the Cabernet are joined by the brighter red fruit of Cinsault, alongside graphite, cedar and a gentle herbal note. There's a freshness and drinkability here that makes this feel more agile than a classic Cabernet. Enjoy now with roast lamb and vegetables provençal or age for a further 8-10 years.

From carefully selected vineyard parcels on koffielip soils in Paardeberg, Swartland, the aim is freshness rather than weight.

The original way of making Cabernets in South Africa was to include some Cinsault to bring a lively fruit component to the dark ripe flavours of Cabernet Sauvignon. Hanneke has, for this reason, included 20% Cinsault in the blend.

Grapes were hand harvested with 10% whole bunches crushed in the bottom of a cement conical tank and the remainder of the grapes de-stemmed on top.

The wine is then aged in old barrels for 14 months.

Vino ph is the project of South African winemaker Hanneke Krüger who is part of a new wave focused on precision, balance and site expression. Working with carefully selected parcels across the Western Cape, she produces small-batch wines that favour freshness and finesse over power.

The name Vino pH reflects her philosophy as pH is fundamental to a wine's structure and energy and getting that balance right is at the heart of everything she does.

The result is a range of thoughtful, quietly expressive wines.
