AR Lenoble
The house of Lenoble was established in 1920 by AR Graser, who came to Champagne from his native Alsace during the First World War. Not wanting to have a German sounding name at that particular time in history, he christened his wines ‘Lenoble’, as he believed the wines of Champagne to be the most noble in France, his initials preceding the name. Since then AR Lenoble is one of the very rare Champagne producers to be consistently family owned throughout.
Owners Anne and Antoinne Malassagne are the great grand-children of the founder and the fourth generation to run the house. They own 10 hectares in the Grand Cru village of Chouilly in the Cote des Blancs, along with 6 hectares in the 1er Cru village of Bisseul, as well as 2 hectares in the Marne Valley village of Damery. It is the expression of the Chardonnay from Chouilly that defines AR Lenoble and its wines. Chouilly is one of 17 Grand Cru villages in Champagne, but more importantly, one of 6 known for Chardonnay. They are one of only a few producers in Champagne that use Grand Cru Chardonnay in all of their wines.
