Vollenweider, Riesling Wolfer Goldgrube 2020

Mostly unconsolidated parcels are spread across six hectares on the steep mosel slopes. they are generally very old, ungrafted riesling vines which provide dry, sweet, and noble sweet wines belonging among the top of the region‘s produce, impressively demonstrating the potential of the slopes around the traditional wine-trading city traben-trarbach.

Vollenweider aim for distinct wines which nevertheless show the influences of terroir and vintage. respect for the interconnections of nature with acceptance and understanding for the effects of external factors on the vines is the basis of their work.

Founded in 2000 by Daniel Vollenweider from Graubunden, with little more than a hectare of grapes in the wolfer goldgrube area and sheer enthusiasm making up for capital. Moritz Hoffmann joined Daniel in 2019 have headed the winery jointly since then. After Daniel sadly passed away in 2022, the winery is now managed by Moritz alone. The 2020 vintages were bottled too late to be available last year. Top dry wines were not made in 2021, so this is Daniel’s last vintage. They are some of the best – if not the best – he made.
