Vieux Chateau Bayard, Montagne Saint-Emilion 2016
Merlot 75%, Cabernet Sauvignon 25%
Aromatic and quite racy. Lots of juicy fruit initially and then pretty chewy tannins. Very much a game of two halves. Sniff it for maximum pleasure
There are eight hectares, mainly planted to Merlot with 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. 50% of the blend is aged in (old) oak and the remainder aged in concrete tank.
Vieux Château Bayard has been in the same family for eight generations and always run by women. Marie-Laure Latorre is the latest family member to run the property, returning home in 2011 after many different roles in the wine trade.
