Quite rich in texture compared to most Gavi but still soft and gentle. Medium-bodied and silky with plenty of juicy peach and pear fruit alongside stoney minerality. Perfect summer drinking...or for when you want to be reminded of summer!

The Bric Sassi vineyard enjoys a privileged position in the Gavi growing area. Here the vineyards mostly face due south, and are made up of 40-year-old vines. The result is a big wine, worked traditionally using modern techniques. Long, coll fermentation and matured for 2 months in stainless steel tanks and 2 motnhs in bottle.
Located close to the town of Gavi, in the frazione Zerbetta, at 260 metres above sea level on ancient Miocene sedimentary marne/tufo soils that are identical to those found in the Langhe to the north, Roberto & Aurora Sarottos 12ha Tenuta Manenti estate is perfectly placed to grow exquisite Cortese grapes for their fine Gavi del Comune di Gavi wines; the nutrient poor white soils focussing Cortese's energy into the fruit, not the leaves. Huge emphasis is put on the cultivation of the vines, with the belief that good wine stems from the vine, and develops in the cellar. Hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed, the Cortese Gavi - Bric Sassi - is from the upper, higher part (the bric) of the single 12 ha vineyard Zerbetta, strewn with stones (sassi), which consistently treats us to ethereal, honeydew, white flower Gavi. The azienda practises mostly traditional winemaking techniques, with the incorporation of modern technology where applicable. Today Roberto is responsible for the Estate and oversees all areas of production, from the work in the field to the development of the wine in the cellar. Robertos wife, Aurora takes care of much of the office and administration work. Since Roberto Sarotto is a family-run winery, everyone has their role in the Estate, including Robertos parents, who are still active in the vineyards.
Consistently good, well rounded but mineral mouthfeel, NB the ABV is 12.5% on the bottle not 13.5% as on the website - personally I m glad, the extra alcohol is really not needed in this wine
