35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 20% Sangiovese, 10% Syrah. Ageing: 18 months in barriques. Both Syrah and Sangiovese in the blend! Good balance and freshness. Very lively and Tuscan and not remotely bordelais. Tuscany lives! I’d love to drink this well-balanced wine with a meal this very day… But it shouldn’t age too quickly. Delivery Information
Grapes are selected from vineyards Torre, Poderini, Vignanova, i Castagni and Campastrello. The fermentation of each variety is handled separately in cone-truncated oak barrels of 30 hl. Only natural yeasts are present. Starting with two daily manual pressings of the cap of the wine eventually ending with one. An open pumping over procedure is made only if necessary. With frequent tastings Satta carefully chooses the time of the drawing off (usually after about 20 days), from which the wine goes directly into barriques.
Michele Satta is one of the founders of Bolgheri DOC over twenty years ago, alongside Tenuta San Guido, Ornellaia, and the Antinori family. However, despite their importance to the meteoric rise of the region, they have remained a boutique, terroir-driven producer that continues to push the boundaries of Italian fine wine. Unlike better-known names, Satta focuses on Mediterranean varieties – particularly Sangiovese and Syrah – alongside Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Today, Michele’s son Giacomo heads the Estate.
