Kamara Nimbus Ritinitis 2025

Kamara has become one of Greece's most respected producers of modern natural wines, but their inspiration often comes from the past. Nimbus Retinitis is based on a family recipe for retsina dating back more than a century, handed down from the winemaker's great-grandfather. The result is an orange retsina made from 100% Assyrtiko grapes that have been de-stemmed before spending 5-8 days on their skins at low temperatures. This gives the wine its distinctive amber colour and textured palate. Fermentation took place in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts. During this fermentation, small amounts of high-quality pine resin from Evia are added to create the wines character. After spontaneous malolactic conversion, the wine spends 3 months ageing on fine lees in old oak barrels. No fining, filtration or added sulphur additions are used.

Located on the hillsides of Oraiokastro, just outside Thessaloniki in Northern Greece, Kamara Winery is a family estate dedicated to low-intervention and natural winemaking. The Kioutsoukis family farm organically and follow a philosophy that places tradition and authenticity at the heart of everything they do. Vineyard work is carried out with minimal intervention and in the cellar indigenous yeasts, gentle handling and little or no filtration allow the wines to express their origin.
