The Northyard vineyard consists of loamy, fine sand over silica limestone. These ancient soils above the Missoula Flood plain are some of the best to grow fruit. This site is higher in elevation and has cooler evenings, which creates later ripening, lots of minerality, and concentration. A hidden gem! All grapes are hand-picked, fermented with naturally occurring yeasts and basket pressed. This wine is made with 100 percent whole clusters, kept 41 days on the skins, in 50 percent new French oak with regular puncheons and finally 20 months barrel-aged on the lees.

K is a Rhone-centric winery that was started by making single-vineyard Syrahs back in 1999. K Vintners is about small lots of single-vineyard Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Tempranillo, Sangiovese and field blends of those grapes, all of which are hand-picked, fermented with naturally occurring yeasts and basket pressed.
