Genetie, Bourgogne Pinot Noir Illumine 2019

After numerous tastings, Genetie selected grapes from two different growers. This cuvée of Pinot Noir was selected for its purity and elegance. Classic vinification with cuvaison of 6-8 days – neither too little or the wine is weak, nor too much or the wine is too tannic – this is the secret to mastering Pinot Noir and allowing the expression of fruit and finesse. After malolactic fermentation our two base wines were blended, and left to rest in the cellar for a couple of months prior to bottling in order to enhance the harmony and create a wine with enough tannins to provide underlying structure and longevity whilst offering some immediate up front fruit.

For over three decades Boutinot has been based in the Mâconnais in southern Burgundy; relying upon Samantha Bailey to craft and blend wines that honestly express the tapestry of the local terroir.  Genetie owns two key plots in the best climats of Saint-Veran, together with a gravity fed winery and a 300 year old house made of the local honey stone. The winery takes its name from the mysterious name we found etched into the stone of a pillar within the building.

We also offer the option to collect from any of our shops at no extra cost. All Mainland UK orders should be delivered within 1-3 working days.
