Description

A psychoanalyst by training and with no intention to become a vigneron, François Pinon found himself in charge of his family’s domaine after his father suddenly retired. And yet François turned around its fortunes with the brilliant 1989 and 1990 vintages, his Vovuray Botrytis showing gentle sweetness alongside floral-herbal freshness.

Delivery Information

Fermentation lasts 3 to 4 months, without yeasting or chaptalization. It starts spontaneously thanks to native yeasts which contribute to the terroir effect. It is stopped by cooling the wine followed by racking. The aging is then carried out in barrels, on fine lees. It lasts 4 to 5 months. Before bottling in May, filtration is carried out. 8 months are therefore necessary for the production of the wine (from October to May)

Located in the appellation Vouvray in the Touraine in the heart of the Loire Valley, the Pinon estate was founded in 1786. Today it covers 15 hectares, acquired by 8 generations of winegrowers and has been farming organically since 2003. After having been a child psychologist for 10 years, François Pinon took over the family estate in 1987. His son Julien, a former town planner, took over the estate in 2018.
