Evening Land, Eola Amity Hills Pinot Noir 2024

Both the Pinot Noir and Gamay are grown at Evening Land's Seven Springs estate, on the eastern slopes of the Eola-Amity Hills.

The grapes undergo slow fermentation with gentle extraction before ageing for nine months in older French oak barrels. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, with minimal sulphites.

The vineyard's iron-rich clay soils contribute to the wine's character, while its eastern exposure protects the fruit from the intense afternoon sun, helping preserve freshness.

Evening Land Vineyards is based around Seven Springs, one of Oregon's most celebrated vineyards, first planted in 1984 in the Eola-Amity Hills.
Situated on the eastern slopes of these ancient volcanic hills, overlooking Mount Hood, the vineyard benefits from cooling Pacific influences and a distinctive combination of soils and exposures.
The estate has a particularly interesting Burgundian connection. Renowned winemaker Dominique Lafon recognised the potential of Seven Springs for Chardonnay and served as a consulting winemaker until 2015.
Today, vineyard manager Netanya Welch and winemaker John Faulkner continue to explore the character of this exceptional site, producing wines that reflect its distinctive growing conditions.
Even the labels tell a story. Inspired by Japanese artist Hokusai's Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, their striking illustrations reflect Evening Land's appreciation of the natural world and the dramatic volcanic landscape surrounding its vineyards.
