Description

Juicy aromas of blackberry, blueberry and dark cherry, vanilla and sweet spice waft temptingly out of the glass. Your first sip won't disappoint, it's smooth and silky with seriously good balance and fine chalky tannins.

The grapes come from the warmest vineyards they have in the village of La Aguilera, from the northern part closer to La Horra, mostly Tempranillo but with some 5% of other varieties (red and white) interplanted in the old vineyards, fermented together with full clusters and indigenous yeasts and matured in French oak barrels for 15 months.

Águila was set up in 2010 by Jorge Monzón and partner Isabel Rodero, in the village of La Aguilera. It may be a fairly new project in Ribera, but he has some pretty impressive experience under his belt. Jorge studied viticulture in Bordeaux and Burgundy; his first position was at Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, before he moved to Spain and worked for a year at Vega Sicilia.
