Composed of 100 % Mourvedre , the wine undergoes alcoholic fermentation and maceration in vats (3 to 4 weeks). It will then be aged for 2 years in oak barrels.

The Domaine Ray-Jane was created in 1970 by Raymond and Jane Constant who, by uniting their lives together, united the lands of their winemaker ancestors and brought to life this creation. Animated by the same flame handed down by their ancestors, their son Alain and his wife Anne have been actively running the Domaine since 2002. Now a new generation is joining them. Their sons Julien and Vincent CONSTANT have in turn carried on a family history that has been passed down for more than 700 years.

A great to way to get your Mourvedre hit.

Mourvedre, along with Cab Franc, is one of my favourites grapes - for the savoury, earthy qualities it brings. It's not easy, though, to find really good expressions without an enormous price tag (especially given that both grapes need a few years in French oak). The Ray Jane Bandol is rich and concentrated, and overflowing with Mourvedre character. The only other things I know that scratch this itch are more than twice the price.
