The Rosso di Montalcino Cupano expresses the typical cherry of Sangiovese on the nose, followed by dried flowers and spices, with notes of white pepper. On the palate it is taut and vertical, with silky tannins and a long savoury finish.

The grapes were lightly pressed, fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperature using indigenous yeasts, and macerated on the skins for 8-10 days.

The wine was aged for 6 months in French and Slavonian wood casks , and then 3-4 months in bottle.

Winemaker Andrea Polidoro worked for a decade with Cupano founder Lionel Cousin, who died in 2020. Cupano is certainly in safe hands with Andrea. The vineyard of 6.4 ha is on a stony hill above the Ombrone river with good drainage and high mineral content.  It has been shown to be “un vrai, grand terroir”. The estate consists of 35 hectares of organic farming: 6.4ha of vineyard, 2ha of olive oil trees, 18ha of wood, and 8ha of arable land.
