Chateau La Fleur de Gay, Pomerol 2009
- Red
- 75cl
- ABV 14.5
Good dark red. Captivating nose melds blackberry, tobacco, lead pencil, Old Bay and sexy oak spices. Silky-sweet, rich and spicy in the mouth, with notes of herbs and juniper berries accenting the powerful dark fruit flavours. Really lovely balance and energy here. The long finish is complemented but not overwhelmed by oak tannins.

The Château La Fleur de Gay vineyard covers 2 hectares of vines on a fantastic terroir typical of the Pomerol appellation. The vines are planted in 3 plots on the high terrace of Pomerol. The vines stretch their roots into soils of pure clay from Lafleur (4%), Günzian gravel on clay (57%) and grainy gravel on Groupey clay (39%).
Owned by the Raynaud-Lebreton family and with origins dating back to 1477, Chateau La Fleur Gay is located on the medieval road from Saint Emillon to Guitres. The property is set in what was once the historic village of Pomerol, the hamlet of Pignon, north of the Pomerol appellation.
