Bright, lifted and effortlessly elegant, this is classic Etna Bianco. Aromas of lemon zest, white peach, wild herbs and blossom lead into a palate layered with citrus, crisp orchard fruit and a distinctive saline, volcanic minerality. Fresh acidity carries the wine to a long, precise finish.

Produced predominantly from Carricante with a small proportion of of other indigenous grape varities, the grapes are grown on organically farmed volcanic terraces around Milo on Etna's eastern slopes. Fermentation takes place at cool temperatures in stainless steel before the wine rests on its fine lees to add texture.

Few wineries can genuinely claim to have shaped the history of a wine region. Barone di Villagrande is one of them.

The Nicolosi family has farmed the eastern slopes of Mount Etna since the late 1600s, receiving the title of Baron of Villagrande in 1727. Today, ten generations later, the estate remains family owned, cultivating organically farmed vineyards around the village of Milo, where cooling sea breezes from the Ionian coast meet Etna’s dramatic volcanic landscape.

The family’s influence extends beyond their own vineyards. In 1869 they pioneered separate vinification for white and red grapes on Etna, helping establish a new quality benchmark for the region. Nearly a century later, Carlo Nicolosi Asmundo played a key role in writing the regulations for Etna DOC, Sicily’s first DOC appellation.

These wines are wonderfully authentic expressions of Etna: elegant rather than powerful, driven by freshness, volcanic minerality and native grape varieties. They capture everything that makes this remarkable mountain one of the world’s most exciting wine regions.
