Predominantly from ancient Garnacha vines, with Cariñena and a whisper of white grapes adding nuance, the wine spent 14 months in oak of various sizes. Bottled unfiltered, the wine offers an intense aromatic lift - violets, lavender and purple fruits layered over dark mineral notes indicative of its Priorat slate birthplace. On the palate, the tannins are refined yet powerful, carrying great depth, precision and a quiet, resonant energy that makes it one of Spain's true greats.

Few winemakers have left as lasting an impact on Spain’s fine wine scene as Álvaro Palacios. After training at the legendary Château Pétrus and growing up immersed in the winemaking traditions of his family's estate, Bodegas Palacios Remondo in Rioja, he set his sights on Priorat in 1989. At the time, the region was largely overlooked, known more for its rugged terrain of steep slate slopes and old, gnarled vines than for high-quality wine.

With foresight, determination, and an innovative approach, Palacios helped spark a revival that transformed Priorat into one of the most respected wine regions in the world.

At the heart of his legacy is L’Ermita: A benchmark wine first crafted in 1993 and now holding the prestigious Gran Vinya Classificada status, the highest recognition for vineyards in the region. The 2018 vintage of L’Ermita is a masterful expression of both the wild beauty of Priorat and Palacios’ meticulous winemaking philosophy.
