Schiefer 'Slate' is a blend of Riesling from multiple sites, from the estate's own vineyard and from a local grower. Each of these plots holds vines aged over 30 years and have burrowed their way down into the rich pure grey and blue slate soils, inspiring the name and mineral edge to this wine. Upon this stone foundation, expect notes of yellow nectarine, granny smith apple, melon, as well as honeysuckle.

Philip Lardot and Rosalie Curtin farm 5 hectares of vines on the steep slopes of the Mosel Valley. Many of them are in historic sites that are rapidly being abandoned and forgotten due to their inability to keep up with viticultural industrialization. Farming these vineyards by hand is a very labour intensive task, but also incredibly rewarding. They feel there is a certain beauty to doing things the way they have been done for centuries.

We deliver throughout the United Kingdom with no minimum order requirement. For Mainland UK deliveries, the following charges apply:

  • £15 for orders below £75
  • £9.99 for orders below £125
  • Free delivery on orders over £125

We also offer the option to collect from any of our shops at no extra cost. All Mainland UK orders should be delivered within 1-3 working days.
