Grapes are hand-harvested from 60-80 year old vinesand undergo rigorous selection before fermentation. The wine ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel tankswith indigenous yeasts, followed by malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels. Aging occurs for 16 months in French oak, with 50% new barrels, allowing the 2018 vintage Tempranillo to develop complexity while maintaining fruit purity. Romeo employs gentle pump-overs and extended maceration to extract optimal color and tannins without over-extraction, resulting in a wine of remarkable finesse and structure.

Benjamin Romeo, once the winemaker at prestigious Artadi, embarked on his solo journey in 2000 with a revolutionary vision for Rioja wines. His philosophy centers on minimal intervention and terroir expression, treating each vineyard as a unique ecosystem. The Predicador project represents Romeo’s dedication to showcasing the authentic character of old-vine Tempranillo from carefully selected parcels across Rioja. His meticulous approach includes hand-harvesting at optimal ripeness and gentle extraction techniques that preserve the grape’s inherent elegance. Romeo’s wines have redefined modern Rioja, earning international acclaim for their purity and precision.
