This wine is entirely produced from the Greek grape variety of Malagousia, which was saved from extinction due to the efforts of Vangelis Gerovassiliou. It has a brilliant straw colour with greenish shades and an aroma of matured fruit such as pear, mango and citrus. On the palate the rich flavours of lemon peel enhance the appealing mouthfeel, adding a well-balanced finish.

Following skin contact in cold, vinification is carried out in stainless steel tanks at 18C, while some is vinified in French oak barrels. The wine is left with its lees for a number of months to gain structure and body.

Domaine Gerovassiliou is located in Epanomi, a few kilometres southeast of Thessaloniki, and was established by Vangelis Gerovassiliou. After finishing his studies at the Agricultural School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Vangelis Gerovassiliou specialised in oenology and viticulture at the University of Bordeaux.

Not for me

I'm afraid this one was really not for me. It is very full on. Maybe if you like the very flavourful NZ sauvignons or a Riesling it could be the think for you. It has a nice bit of acidity, and I could imagine it might work with spicy food (thai perhaps) but it was just too much for our tastes.
