Living and working on their 500 year-old farmstead in the village of Kammern in the Kamptal, the Hirsch family dedicates itself with passion to the production of Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. These are wines with attitude that reflect the vitality of the region are crafted from. Johannes Hirsch now runs the winery, while his father Josef still keeps an eye on the vineyards, which they have recently converted to biodynamics. The family have some great sites including a 35 year-old vineyard on the Gaisberg hill which is composed of complex primary rock - very old eroded mica and schist. The winery is considered one of the best white wine producing estates in Austria - all their wines carry the hallmark characters of intense fruit and a broad aromatic profile at a modest alcohol content.
