A smooth and generous Navarra red with plenty of drinkability. Ripe blackberry and wild strawberry lead, it's lifted by subtle floral and red berry notes. Supple, soft tannins and fresh acidity carry through to a long, clean finish with some gentle spice. A really lovely modern, value Spanish red that works very well with oily fish such as salmon or tuna as well as rich tomatoey tapas-style dishes.

A 50/50 blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha, selected with freshness firmly in mind. The fruit comes from north-facing slopes and vineyards on the valley floor, cooler sites which help preserve brightness and aromatic fruit.

Both varieties undergo a 5 day cool maceration before fermentation in stainless steel. The wine remains unoaked, keeping the emphasis squarely on juicy fruit, soft tannins and the naturally fresh character of the vineyards.

Bodega Nekeas sits in Navarra's Valley of Valizarbe, an historic wine growing area in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Vines had been cultivated here for centuries, but by the mid-20th century industrialisation and low grape prices had driven viticulture into steep decline, leaving little more than some of the smaller, harder to reach plots of old Garnacha.

In the 1990s, descendants of the valley's original grape-growing families came together to revive its vineyards and traditions. Today Nekeas farms sustainably across this dramatic landscape, where vineyards climb to 450-650 metres and Atlantic and Mediterranean influences meets. The resulting wines combine ripe Spanish fruit with a freshness that has become something of a Nekeas signature.
