Founded in 1953, Sarria was one of the pioneers of quality winemaking in Navarra but standards slipped until the current owners, the bank of Navarra, put a huge investment programme in place in 2001. Mature vineyards are being revitalised, new vineyards planted and the cellars have been totally overhauled. The results are really showing now with this fresh and stylish unoaked Chardonnay with intense, lively citrus fruit aromas. Quite full on the palate with ripe peach and apricot characters balanced by crisp acidity.

They are not shy about trying out different grapes over in Chile, sometimes with varied sucess, but Riesling amongst others have been a bit of a triumph. This wine has an attractive citrus nose, with notes of lemon and grapefruit. Refreshing and well balanced with zingy pineapple on the palate, finishing with a nice mineral zip.

Evocative, fresh strawberry/ raspberry nose, with some varietal 'bubblegummy' notes. Lovely weight and concentration, reflecting the outstanding 2009 vintage. Typical zippy, freshmaking acidity on the finish.

Made from 60% syrah, 30% Grenache Noir and 5% Mouvedré but stainless steel fermentation means no oak just pure spicy fruit flavours with hints of aniseed and an appealing earthy peppery character. Wonderful with a range of hearty foods and red meats.
