Founded by three friends and leading winemakers from the Northern Rhone – Yves Cuilleron, Pierre Gaillard and Francois Villard, Les Vins de Vienne (the name given to the wines of the Seyssuel region in the Roman times) is a domaine and small negociant firm.
They have resurrected a long-neglected vineyard, planted with Syrah and Viognier, and created wines which resemble famous examples from Condrieu and Cote Rotie.
This case contains one bottle of each of the wines listed below.
- Cotes du Rhone Blanc, Les Laurelles 2019
A round, fresh and balanced wine made of the typical white Rhone varieties: Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, and a bit of Clairette. Perfect as an aperitif or with a Nicoise salad.
A very aromatic Viognier, characterised by beautiful yellow peach aromas and flavours. It is ideal as an aperitif or with oriental food.
This is an attractive Syrah, showing beautiful balance between dark fruit and spices. Matches very well with charcuterie and grilled red meat with a spicy sauce.
A lovely supple Syrah from the Northern Rhône with strong red berries and floral notes of violet. It drinks very well with grilled rib and veal filet mignon with pepper sauce.
- Gigondas, Les Pimpignoles 2018
A Rhone blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre, this is a wonderful Gigondas expression with lovely, slightly jammy, red and dark berries aromas and fine, silky tannins. Serve with duck and morels, grilled steak or Jerusalem artichokes.
- Crozes-Hermitage, Les Palignons 2018
Ample, crunchy and generous packed with ripe plum, black cherry and blueberry flavours. Delicate oakiness and earthiness with hints of mint and pepper make it particularly great with steak and shallots, and grilled meat with Béarnaise sauce.
