MA Arndorfer, Gruner Veltliner Strasser Weinberge 2018

Classic Grüner Veltliner with an added twist from this innovative produce: Winemaker Martin Arndorfer has tempered Grüner's sharp-edged acidity, rounding it off by giving the wine just the merest whisper of oak: some of the wine spends a short period ageing in large, old oak barrels, which, along with lees contact lends it a subtle, delicate creamy vanilla note. Ideal with seafood, especially shellfish and oysters.

San Simone Sauvignon Blanc, Graves del Friuli 2016, Italy

Light straw yellow colour with slight greenish hints. Broad, varietal, aromatic on the nose with citric notes of grapefruit, yellow pepper, tomato leaf, sage and balsamic aromas. On the palate the San Simone Sauvignon Blanc is rich, fragrant and aromatic with natural acidity and a persistent, pleasant, slightly bitter aftertaste.

Magpie Estate, Rag and Bone Riesling Eden Valley 2020

The nose classically expresses the vineyard... it's like having a fresh lime in your hand that you crush gently over minerals... literally lime on the rocks!! The palate is bright, zingy, singing with natural acidity and really textural. It reflects the vineyard with its fine sandy texture with really bright, white textural fruit. Just a cracking Eden Valley Riesling.

Chateau Unang, Rouge 2017, France

This is one of those juicy, supple Rhône reds which is just a joy to drink. Château Unang sits above the Nesque river bed, overlooking the Vaucluse Plateau. Run by Scottish couple James and Joanna King, it is now certified organic and fast becoming one of the best sources of delicious, great value wine in the region.

Tabali, Pedregoso Carmenere Gran Reserva 2020

This cuvee of old vine Carmenere from granitic soils up in the Andes foothills is aged in French oak for 10 months. With floral, spice, dark fruits and chocolate on the nose, it offers silky tannins and a lovely balance between fruit and oak

Serge Dagueneau, Pinot Noir Les Montes de St Lay Cotes Charite 2017, France

Pinot Noir Cuvee from the Cotes de la Charite has come on leaps and bounds in recent years and now represents one of the best value Pinots on our list. Fermented and aged in oak barrels, it takes its cues from Burgundy, yet possesses the delicate body of Pinot Noir from northern vineyards.
