Spring is here, the sun has returned, temperatures are rising and along with the relaxing of lockdown restrictions, it's now the perfect time to meet with friends and family in the garden!

We've all been dreaming of that thirst quenching bottle of wine shared with loved ones, over a socially distanced barbecue, so we've taken the liberty of putting together some suggestions.

This selection has been carefully curated with some of the best wines to enjoy with a barbecue – from sparkling and white wines to delicious rosés and reds.

• Botter, Prosecco Spumante DOC NV, Italy – 100% Glera – 11% ABV

Crisp with a delicate perlage and a complex bouquet of peach, green apple with notes of acacia and lilac. Fresh and light on the palate, with balanced acidity and body and a long persistent aftertaste.

• Rola White, Douro 2019, Portugal – Viosinho, Rabigato and Gouveio – 13% ABV – Organic & Vegan

The best expression of modern Douro white with citrus and tropical fruits, complemented by delicate notes of almond and herbs adding some complexity. Very fresh and crisp with a delicious long finish.

• Domaine Mont d'Hortes, Cuvée des 4 Saisons Rosé 2020, France – 100% Grenache Noir – 13% ABV

Fantastic value for a pale, fresh and dry rose in the Provence style. Fragrant with fresh juicy red berry fruit and a touch of dried herbs - the ideal aperitif rose.

• Château d'Esclans, Whispering Angel Rosé 2020, France – Cinsault, Grenache, Rolle, Syrah, Tibouren – 13% ABV

Perfumed bouquet with elegant cherry, pink grapefruit and white peach. This is a superb, rounded and expressive Provence rose with an unusual complexity.

• Keermont, Syrah 2015, South Africa – 100% Syrah – 14% ABV

Enchanting bouquet of violets, dusty sandal wood and a hint of spicy red fruit. The palate is elegant and soft, and has a clean linear acidity. It has a strong floral character with spicy red fruit and hints of cherry sherbet. It has supple tannins and a long earthy herbal finish.

• Bodegas Montecillo, Rioja Edición Limitada 2015, Spain – 70% Tempranillo, 30% Graciano

A mix of a modern and traditional style Rioja from a great vintage. Aged in both French and American oak for 22 months, resulting in lifted aromas of black fruits, violet and vanilla with hints of sweet spices. A classy, dinner party wine.
