We were delighted to be asked by the team at The Silver Birch to pair wines for their fantastic New Year’s Feast menu, what better way to see in the new year and say goodbye to 2020!
We have chosen the following wines to match with the corresponding courses, and hope they elevate your experience of the Restaurant’s incredible menu.
Please note, cases only available for collection in our Chiswick branch.
Aperitif and Cheese Puff:
Varnier- Fanniere Brut Grand Cru NV (37.5cl)- Half Bottle Streamlined and fresh, this balanced version offers a hint of roasted walnut to the subtle notes of dried black cherry, biscuit and spun honey.
Croquette and Fennel:
Domaine Bzikot Pere et Fils, Puligny-Montrachet 2018 - Half Bottle Creamy, rich, buttery nose, also creamy on the palate with flavours of vanilla, balanced with a good mineral spine, acidity and freshness, making it a gastronomic treat!
Duck or Monkfish:
Chateau des Graviers, Margaux 2016 - Half Bottle Clear, bright blackcherry colour, a kernel of rich fruit with great depth, and superb texture with good freshness and marked mineral flavours. Shows the more elegant side of Bordeaux and Margaux in particular, with winemaker Christophe Landry focusing on balance and freshness over extraction and power.
Johanneshof Reinisch, Merlot Eiswein 2018 - Half Bottle One of those rare wines that really works with dark chocolate puds! It's made from Merlot grapes picked at -9 degrees in the early morning in late December. Full of dark berries and cherry flavours with a fine balance between sweetness and refreshing acidity.
