Restrained, elegant and refined. Framed by floral elements, flamed orange peel and a general lack of lychee make this no ordinary Gewurztraminer - You get the luscious tropical fruit one would expect from the varietal yet with its high acidity it's even more mouth watering than you'd expect.

A cool growing season lead to extended days of sunlight in the harvest window of mid-October. Low to no botrytis brought us clean fruit, that was remarkably high in acid for the variety. That acidity is prominent on the palate, giving this offering a framework and length similar to 2016 and 2014. It is one of our most age worthy Gewürztraminers to date.

At Ovum, each wine is produced the same way - if the wine smells and tastes different, it has everything to do with terroir, and little to do with the winemaker.  Our hope is that through our attention to detail and honest technique, we can produce old fashioned wines in the modern world.

Native ferments, no subtractions or additions, except for SO2 - extended lees contact 8-9 months, for textural complexity. All of this is done in neutral barrels of acacia and oak, as well as cement egg and Austrian cask.  Ovum is solely committed to the production of white wines, mainly Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and Muscat.
