Pure Malbec from the Michelini brothers's newest venture in Gualtallary in the Uco Valley - THE sweet spot forfresh mineral styles -on alluvial and granite soil.Vineyards are farmed organically and some biodynamic techniques are used. Elegant, fresh and complex with ripe black cherry, dusty, damson, prune and blueberry juiciness make this a perfect rib-eye steak wine.
Matias is a rule breaker, a maverick who cares little for convention and pours his heart into every vat. His wines are sometimes unorthodox to say the least, and maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but if you buy into the notion that life is too short to stick with the same old stuff, you need to try his wines. Could it get any better? Well, yes, because in November 2014 we met Matias's brothers Gerardo and Juan Pablo, another couple of nutters with touches of genius in their fingertips and rock 'n roll pumping through their pipes. All three brothers have their own wine projects with different company names and all three work together on other projects. It's all a bit chaotic, and wonderful. To keep it simple we're just calling them the Michelini Brothers. These guys make their wines in very small quantities in Gualtallary, an increasingly prized sub-region of the Uco Valley where the soils often have a very high calcareous content resulting, sometimes, in a wonderful 'boney' quality. A real sense of place in the wines is clearly paramount - a real sense of the soils in particular - and between them we are able to present a real wild bunch of diversity in terms of style. From Beaujolais style Bonarda to a Vin Jaune type affair made from Torront�s, it's all a bit anarchic. So, without further ado, Never Mind The Bollocks - Here's The Michelini Brothers!
