LaStella, Maestoso 'Solo' Merlot Okanagan Valley 2015

The grapes come from two vineyards - Lumeno and La Feuille D'Or. The soils of Lumeno are heavy clay, gravel and mixed alluvial deposits, while La Feuille D'Or is made of clay, silt and large angular rocks. Aged for 18 months in 100% French oak barrels, of which 33% new, 56% second-fill and 11% neutral. Unfined and lightly filtered.

LaStella owns eight vineyards across the South Okanagan Valley where they practice organic agriculture. All of them have different characteristics in terms of soil, altitude and elevation. In the cellar their philosophy is low intervention. As they say, LaStella was created to capture their vision of 'la dolce vita': fine food, wonderful wine, great music, and the good things of life. No wonder that Sangiovese takes a special place in their hearts.
