Katharina Wechsler Mixed Case

£120.00

Description

Katharina is one of many shining lights of a new generation of winemakers that cement Rheinhessen’s reputation. Following a career in Media, she decided in her 30s to leave Berlin to start training as a winemaker.

In 2012, she took over the family estate in Westhofen and never looked back. The estate covers about 17ha with over 50-year-old south-facing vineyards. Continuously looking to improve quality, she is currently converting her vineyards to fully organic while also practicing biodynamics.

This case contains one bottle of each of the wines listed below.

  • Grauburgunder 2020

Yellow pears and subtle layer of spice make this Pinot Gris a real allrounder. Wonderful with white meat, vegetables or just on its own.

  • Westhofener Riesling 2017

This dry Riesling is light and crisp with crunchy apples and hints of apricots with a flinty minerality and a long, clean finish.

  • Riesling Benn 2016

From a monopole vineyard site - Benn, this Riesling is dry with green fruits, hints of white flowers, honey, and a lovely mineral precision and poise. Very persistent.

  • Riesling Schweisstropfchen 2020

This off-dry Riesling displays lifted aromas of rhubarb and tropical fruits along with delicious honey and ginger notes.

  • Silvaner 2013

Silvaner is the unsung hero of German wine and this mature example is creamy, ever so slightly spicy and excels with its refined acidity. Traditionally eaten with asparagus, its subtle flavours and good acidity make it an all-round companion for any good meal and a great aperitif.

  • Pinot Noir 2016

A Pinot Noir that gloriously combines Old and New World. Light and fresh with high acidity and a Burgundy savoury feel, it is full of spices with nutmeg and a nice oakiness with hints of chocolate.
