Description

Grauburgunder is the German version of Pinot Gris. The late picking and stainless steel ensures rich clean flavours. With lower acidity, the apricot and peachy notes come to the fore and the wine shows great concentration and length.

Delivery Information

The grapes are grown on a combination of marl and red sandstone. Harald picks relatively late to ensure rich, textural and ripe styles. Yields across the 7ha estate are kept very low, everything is handpicked and the majority of the wines are racked only once to make sure they’re bottled with vigour and have a clean, slatey streak.

Striving for the highest quality is the guideline for everything Hexamer do - They love wines with character! Fruity, varietal wines. Wines that reflect the soil on which they were grown. Wines with a mind of their own that don't defy the mainstream.

As they say: "Good wines are made in the vineyard. In the cellar, the vintner can only optimise and tease out what the grape and his careful work have given him over the whole year. And we do a lot of work in our vineyards. Cutting only one arched vine and thinning are standard today."
