Made at Marcel Lappierre this has super juicy, pure but ripe red fruit and is pretty and Pinotic with a hint of spice. Try with a Tuna steak.
Total crush here in 2017 was just 17 tons, so they are starting small. All winemaking is very low extraction, with carbonic maceration, no pigeage, and no punching down: just keeping the cap wet.��
David Chapel and his wife Michele Smith-Chapel are reimagining Juli�nas.��Long associated with burly, tannic, over-oaked wines they have taken a different approach and inspired by David�s time working at Domaine Lapierre have harnessed the benefit of cool, carbonic macerations and gentle �levage.��Their first vintage in 2016 was vinified chez Lapierre and the hands-off approach is evident in this pure-fruited style of wine, where the natural substance of Juli�nas is captured neatly without dominating the wine�s structure. If ever there was a story to tell behind a Domaine, then David and Michele should be front and centre.��David was born into high-end gastronomy, the son of Alain Chapel the patriarch of the nouvelle cuisine�movement in France and Michelle ran wine programmes for various starred restaurants in her native New York.� The two came together by chance when Michelle was in the region on holiday, before they spent time back in New York then settled in Beaujolais where they�ve recently built their own cellars.�
