Buttery New World Chardonnay's are available in plenty, so here's something different. Dog Point's 2017 Chardonnay is not only Burgundian in style but specifically echoes the classic taste of Meursault; strong fruit flavours with a generous helping of new oak. Nor does Dog Point have the sweetness typical of some warm climate New World wines. Instead, decent acidity is present, but smooth, and gives the wine a long dry finish. If you're in the market for something with the calibre of Meursault, but feeling a little shy about the price, here's a worthy alternative.
