About Col - Kew Store Manager
"I arrived at The Good Wine Shop on top of a career of over ten years at the cutting edge of London’s hospitality scene. I am passionate about small-production wines using organic farming and minimal intervention in the winery. My favourite wine regions are the Languedoc and the Roussillon in SW France. I also love Grower Champagne, Mosel Riesling and Burgundy, and I can often be found quaffing real ale, new wave craft beer and single malt Scotch whisky. Outside of wine I am a keen cyclist and have completed various cycling challenges including riding the length of Ireland and Portugal, and cycling from London to Paris in 24 hours."
- Scar of the Sea, Old Vine Chardonnay 2018, California – Organic
“I love Chardonnay made in a bright, lean and mineral style, and this is perfect for me. Like a sprinkling of lemon zest and sea salt on your tongue.”
- Cathar(tic) Neuks n' Crannies, Roussillon, France – Organic conversion
“My favourite wine region - full of altitude, old vines and artisanal producers. This Carignan Gris and Grenache Gris blend is tropical on the nose with notes of lychee, but zippingly fresh on the palate.”
- Angiolino Maule, Pico Bianco La Biancara 2018, Italy – Organic
“Benchmark skin-contact or 'orange' wine from a master of the style. Herbaceous nose with burnt orange, minerality galore and an elegant tannic backbone.”
- David and Nadia, Grenache Swartland 2018, South Africa – Organic, Biodynamic
“Ethereally textured and delicately bodied Grenache from Swartland, with violet petals and a touch of star anise giving complexity and length.”
- Joan D'Anguera, Planella 2019, Spain – Organic, Biodynamic
“Carignan-dominated blend from a biodynamic estate in Montsant, next door to Priorat. There's a rustic edge, but beneath are layers of dark fruit and herbs, backed up by a slate-y stoniness.”
- Domaine du Traginer, Vieilli en Foudre 2014, Collioure, France – Organic, Biodynamic
“A biodynamic producer with beautiful terraced vineyards on Collioure's steep slopes overlooking the Med. Glinting with minerality and fragrant with the region's garrigue herbs (wild thyme and rosemary). Concentrated and ripe, but juicy. A very special wine.”
