Selection from the south-western and southern oriented parcels, bordering the domains natural source. Aged for 9-15 months in oak.

Chateau Goubau is a new project in the Cotes de Castillon for the maverick wine-maker, Jacques Thienpont. Jacques has a knack of spotting exceptional terroir and then applying his alchemists touch. Le Pin and LIf are two of the most sought after wines in Bordeaux and we expect Goubau to be an estate to follow closely too. Belgian couple. Stphane and Bea Goubau-Goossens fell in love with and bought this Chateau in 2005, and then began an ambitious and major investment program to up-date the facilities and the quality of the vineyards. Add to this green-harvesting to keep yields down to approx 35hl per hectare, a new sorting table and almost obsessive attention to detail and you have the recipe for a very high quality wines, with an extremely attractive price for the quality.Certified organic and located in the increasingly fashionable Bordeaux Ctes appellation of Castillon, it was bought, from the Belgian Goubau family in late 2015 by Jacques and Fiona Thienpont of Le Pin and his sister and family also Belgian. The property lies on the outskirts of St-Philippe d'Aiguilhe on the tip of the limestone plateau stretching west from St-milion with clay-limestone subsoil. It is planted with 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc and the Thienponts are planning to plant more land next door.
