Tasting Notes

Cartology is a vinous exploration of Cape heritage. It is intended to be a picture of the Cape, seen through the lens of her mature vineyards, in a given vintage. Therefore, the cuvee is composed of rare and extraordinary parcels of mature dryland bushvines. Naturally, the varieties used are also heritage varieties, namely Chenin blanc and Semillon. They have been planted in the Cape for centuries. The nose, more than ever, shows striking high toned citrus and honeysuckle, apple, some fynbos and thatch notes. The palate is truly vibrant, ringing with flavour and movement, sweet and saline tug-o-war. It finishes long, after which you die from sensory overload.

As a rule, the Cartology parcels are dry farmed bushvines, with a minimum age of 30 years, although most are around 40 years old. Were extremely picky about the parcels that are allowed to make this wine. Composition: The Chenin comes from our parcels in the Skurfberg, Perdeberg, Bottelary, and False Bay. The Semillon comes from the old La Colline block in Franschhoek.
