Ciu Ciu, Arbinus Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi 2019, Italy

If, like us, you were wondering about the curious name, it does indeed translate as "choo-choo". Yes, as in a Train. Apparently one of the family's ancestors used to work on the railways. Verdicchio has come a long way since the days when it came in curiously shaped elongated bottles (supposed, apparently, to depict the form of a tall, slender, elegant, female figure). Clean, juicy and refreshing, with notes of white flowers, sweet tangerine, and exotic tropical fruits.

False Bay, Windswept Sauvignon Blanc 2020, South Africa

This is one of our best selling Sauvignons and for good reason. The False Bay Sauvignon Blanc is made from a parcel of very aromatic cool climate fruit from Durbanville, a small component of richer more tropical fruit from Paardeberg and even a small component from Paul Boutinot's own Waterkloof estate in Stellenbosch, brought together to create a wine that is much more than the sum of its parts. Fresh, crisp aromatics with lifted green fruit, ripe apple and floral aromas. Flavours of greengage, citrus acidity and a fine, mineral finish. Amazingly good value for the quality of the wine.

AA Badenhorst, Secateurs Chenin Blanc 2019, South Africa

A rich and concentrated Chenin Blanc from very old vines, un-irrigated and farmed as organically as possible. Flavours of ripe apples and honey and a creamy texture give the wine richness and weight whilst retaining the thrillingly zippy tang of Chenin's acid backbone. It will cope beautifully with roast pork or roast chicken and would do a rich fish pie serious justice.

Tabali, Pedregoso Gran Reserva Viognier 2018, Chile

Wonderfully aromatic, with citrus and floral notes. The palate is dry, round and fruit driven. Citrus fruit, apricot and pear mingle with gentle acidity to make a nicely balanced and elegant wine.  Will stand up to rich and elegant seafood, such as langoustines, but also works well with Thai and other Asian cuisine.

David Maudry, Sauvignon Blanc À Peu Près Tracy-sur-Loire 2019, France

A stunning little gem from David Maudry, whose family have a long old history of wine production in Tracy-Sur-Loire. This Sauvignon Blanc comes from young vines directly next to their Pouilly-Fumé vineyard. Whilst this vineyard remains unclassified, the soils and aspect are the same, indeed the wine tastes almost identical (at a fraction of the price)... lots of that struck-flint note we all love in Pouilly-Fumé, and then a nice elegance and gentle tang.

Bottega Vinai, Pinot Grigio 2019, Italy

This straw-coloured Pinot Grigio is rich and round with distinct floral notes on the nose. On the palate it shows honeyed, nutty flavours balanced by crisp, lemony acidity. Good weight and texture sets this apart from the majority of other Pinot Grigios and makes it a fine partner for quiche.
