Whisky – ‘the water of life’

As Burns Night approaches and there’s a wintry nip in the air, thoughts can turn to a nip of “uisde beathe” – water of life – in a glass.

We’ve been extending our whisky or whiskey (if you prefer) range over the last six months and now have a large and varied selection of blended Scotch, Scottish single malts, Irish whiskey, Bourbon, and Japanese whisky too.

Whisky the water of life

For those who like a fruity, sweeter style of whisky then try Asyla from Compass Box, Nikka Pure Malt Red Label or Auchentoshan Three Wood, single malt.

If you’re a peat-head then Compass Box’s Peat Monster, Finlaggan Old Reserve or one of the cask strength Elements of Islay range will probably be more to your taste.

And for the connoisseur looking for a treat then we have a selection of limited edition bottlings from some well-known distilleries. Talisker 18 year old and Lagavulin distiller’s edition are two for fans of the peaty, maritime style while Mortlach 16 year oldand Balblair 1991 are perfect for those who prefer a gentler dram.  For a real treat we have one bottle of MacKillop’s choice 33 year old Glenlivet: bottled from a single cask specially selected by master distiller Lorne MacKillop this would make a great gift for any whisky lover.

To help you try something new or purchase an old favourite tipple, we’re offering 5% off all our scotch whisky prices up to and including Friday 24 January. Just mention this piece when you’re at the till. This offer is only available in our shops.
