Moulin-à-Vent Vieilles Vignes, Domaine Jacky Janodet, Beaujolais, France 2015

About this wine

Of all the Beaujolais Villages entitled to put their name on the bottle, Moulin A Vent is that most capable of producing serious and potentially longer-lived wine . The synergy between the granitic soils of the region and the Gamay grape yields more deeply flavoured, juicy, supple Beaujolais which, with age , will go on to develop more complex flavours. The French even have a verb for this transformation - pinoter or, loosely tranlated, to become more like Pinot Noir. This is drinking beautifully now - but you might want to consider drinking one and saving the other for a year or two to see how it can evolve. As a vibrant, medium-bodied Beaujolais I'd pair this with pork chops or charcuterie.
